Amazon has called the media together for a press conference in New York on 9 February, prompting speculation that it’s about to release the next version of its Kindle ebook reader.
The date and place also coincides with O’Reilly’s Tools of Change conference, an ebook industry event that will give Amazon a further platform for promoting its new system. I’ll be attending the TOC conference so will hopefully get a glimpse of the new gadget.
Amazon has yet to give out any sales figures for the Kindle, launched in November 2007, but most speculation has it around the 250-300,000 mark. It’s only available in the US market at this stage.
