About Martin Taylor
Martin Taylor is a publisher and consultant with a special interest in the information technology, internet and business media. His media experience at CEO level spans online, magazines, books, newspapers, exhibitions and conferences in New Zealand and the US.
He is Managing Director and major shareholder of book publisher and distributor Addenda Publishing, one of New Zealand’s largest independent book distributors; and principal of web design and consulting company Digital Strategies. He is a board member of the Publishers Association of New Zealand (PANZ), where he spearheads its Digital Publishing group, and serves as a judge for the New Zealand Magazine Awards and the HiTech Awards.
Martin was formerly Managing Director of IDG Communications Limited (now Fairfax Business Media), one of New Zealand’s largest magazine and online publishers. In 1996, he launched one of the first daily internet news services in New Zealand and built a network of technology and business websites. He undertook a number of international assignments for Boston-based International Data Group, a US$2.68 billion global media company. These included heading its Asia Pacific Web Support Centre, conducting a number of consulting assignments in both print and online fields, and serving as President of Boston-based Computerworld, Inc. Computerworld forms the hub of the world’s largest global IT media network with editions in more than 40 countries. Its website has more than 2 million unique visitors each month and its newspaper is read by 1.6 million weekly readers.
Martin is a former President of the Magazine Publishers Association of New Zealand and chair of the Joint Industry Committee for National Audience Research, the group that oversees print media research in New Zealand. He has been a recipient of the Publisher of the Year award at the New Zealand Magazine Awards.
